The summit dance team’s season runs from July-March. During the month of July, dancers attend technique classes with the Homestead and Woodside dance teams to begin training for the upcoming season. Throughout the season, we perform at school pep assemblies and basketball games. Our dancers attend 5-6 competitions throughout the season, including a regional and state competition.

    HOW TO JOIN OUR GROUP

Dancers must audition for the dance team in the spring, usually in the month of May. Dancers learn a short jazz and hip hop routine in a two day mandatory workshop and audition on day three. A parent meeting is scheduled prior to auditions for parents to attend and ask any additional questions.

    PRACTICES/COMPETITIONS

The dance team practices twice a week for 90 minutes each day. Once competition season begins, Friday practices are added to the schedule. All competitions are held on Saturdays only.

  • DESCRIPTION
The Math Club at Summit consists of students (and a teacher) who enjoy working on challenging math problems with friends.

In October, the club focuses on MATHCOUNTS curriculum. The problems in MATHCOUNTS are problem-solving, multi-conceptual, and offer math experiences beyond those seen in a traditional classroom. Prior students have stated the problems they saw and learned about in MATHCOUNTS helped prepare them for higher math and college entrance exams.

In February, the club "morphs" into Math Academic Super Bowl, and students switch to a new curriculum offering new challenges to their mathematical minds.

Beyond the weekly meetings, there is a competition component. School competitions determine a team of 4 to compete at MATHCOUNTS competition (held in February and March) and a new competition determines a team of 5 to compete at the Math Academic Super Bowl (in April).

    HOW TO JOIN OUR GROUP
Any student grades 6-8 can join. If you are interested, attend the first meeting and keep coming! There are no official dues although students do sign up for snack rotations and will bring snack in for the group around 2 or 3 times during the year.

    MEETINGS
From October through April, we meet on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 in Mrs. McGlennen's room (B115).
