SUMMIT MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL 2024-2025

2024 Important Dates/Information:

  • Call-Outs:  Tuesday, Wednesday 10/9 , during 7th and 8th grade lunch

 

  • 7th Grade Tryouts/Practice Schedule:  7th grade tryouts will take place on October 22, 23, and 24
    • Tryouts, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
    • Regular practices, Mon-Fri, 3:00pm – 5:00pm beginning Monday, October 28th.

 

  • 8th Grade Tryouts/Practice Schedule:  8th grade tryouts will take place on October 29, 30, & 31.
    • Tryouts, 5:00pm - 6:00pm
    • Regular practices, Mon-Fri, 5:00pm – 7:00pm beginning Monday, November 4th


Parent Meeting:  We will hold a short and mandatory parent meetings.

  • 7th Grade immediately following Friday’s practice, 10/25 @ 4:30pm. Enter door 10.
  • 8th Grade Friday, 11/1 @ 6:30pm. Enter door 10.


Each athlete must have all forms completed on Final Forms before tryouts. They will not be allowed to participate in any aspects of the tryout if their paperwork is not complete.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR AT TRYOUTS (THAT SHOULD CARRY OVER THROUGH THE SEASON):

               * Students with good basketball skills or with enough athletic ability and potential, and the willingness to learn the necessary skills

               * Student-athletes with positive, team oriented attitudes. We want this to be a fun experience for everyone- We need full buy in from everyone.

               * Students must be eligible academically at the time of tryouts.  

               * Student-athletes that are team players and unselfish, willing to play whatever role they are asked to help the team the most.

               * Student-athletes who practice hard every day and who want to get better

               * Student-athletes with good potential and the willingness to learn.

THINGS TO KNOW  IF YOU MAKE THE FINAL CUT AND ARE ON THE TEAM:

               * every player is required to pay a SACS transportation fee of $25

               * For away games, students should go home after school, bus usually leaves at 4:15pm at the earliest.


Each athlete must have a completed physical and concussion paperwork on file through Final Forms before tryouts. They will not be allowed to tryout if the paperwork is not complete. Contact the Athletic Director, Jason Cordes (jcordes@sacs.k12.in.us) if you have any questions.
