Artists Awarded at FAME Festival

Over 200 Summit students, under the guidance of SMS Art Teacher Mrs. Nicholson, had art work on display at the Grand Wayne center for this year's FAME Festival. Three Summit artists (pictured with Principal Pursley and Mrs. Nicholson) were chosen for special awards:
Amy M., Teachers’ Choice Award: Mannekin Study in colored pencil on black paper
Penelope L., Purdue Fort Wayne Artist Award: Yellow Flower collage of marker, acrylic, and watercolor
Griffin W., Mayor's Choice Award: Dragon Eye in oil pastel
The annual FAME Festival features performances and art work by students from throughout the community, along with workshops from artists and performers. The FAME Festival was co-founded forty years ago by now-retired SACS teachers, Dorothy Kittaka and Mike Schmid.
