SUMMIT MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL 2023-2024

2023 Important Dates/Information:

  • Call-Outs:  Tuesday, October 3rd, during 7th and 8th grade lunch

 

  • Open Gyms:  Open gym time for girls will be available from 3:15pm - 5:15pm on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11. These are strictly optional and are not a part of the tryout process.

 

  • 7th Grade Tryouts/Practice Schedule:  7th grade tryouts will take place on October 23, 24, and 25
    • Tuesday, 24th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
    • Wednesday, 25th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
    • Thursday, 26th, 3:00 – 5:00pm
    • Regular practices, Mon-Fri, 3:00pm – 4:30pm beginning Friday, October 27th.

 

  • 8th Grade Tryouts/Practice Schedule:  8th grade tryouts will take place starting on Tuesday October 24th and 25th .
    • Tuesday, Oct. 24th, 3:00pm - 5:00pm
    • Wednesday, 25th, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
    • Thursday, 26th, Off 
    • Regular practices, Mon-Fri, 3:00pm – 4:30pm beginning Friday, October 27th


Parent Meeting:  We will hold a short and mandatory parent meeting, 7th Grade immediately following Friday’s practice, 8th Grade date and time to be determined.


Each athlete must have all forms completed on Final Forms before tryouts. They will not be allowed to participate in any aspects of the tryout if their paperwork is not complete.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR AT TRYOUTS (THAT SHOULD CARRY OVER THROUGH THE SEASON):

               * Students with good basketball skills or with enough athletic ability and potential, and the willingness to learn the necessary skills

               * Student-athletes with positive, team oriented attitudes. We want this to be a fun experience for everyone- We need full buy in from everyone.

               * Students must be eligible academically at the time of tryouts.  

               * Student-athletes that are team players and unselfish, willing to play whatever role they are asked to help the team the most.

               * Student-athletes who practice hard every day and who want to get better

               * Student-athletes with good potential and the willingness to learn.

THINGS TO KNOW  IF YOU MAKE THE FINAL CUT AND ARE ON THE TEAM:

               * every player is required to pay a SACS transportation fee of $10

               * every player should purchase a team shooting shirt with # on back (name is optional) 

               * For away games, students should go home after school, bus usually leaves at 4:15pm at the earliest.


Each athlete must have a completed physical and concussion paperwork on file through Final Forms before tryouts. They will not be allowed to tryout if the paperwork is not complete. Contact the Athletic Director, Jason Cordes (jcordes@sacs.k12.in.us) if you have any questions.
