Student Assistants in the Library

The SMS Library provides opportunities for seventh and eighth grade students to enroll in an elective course that allows them to work in the library. Students in this one-semester class help out in the library by performing circulation tasks (checking library books out and in), shelving books, labeling and processing new library books, creating displays in the library, and other library tasks. Additionally, students create book talks and book trailers that are published on the SMS Library's Canvas page, and learn about issues relevant to the library world, including the First Amendment, censorship, and collection development.
