The summit dance team’s season runs from July-March. During the month of July, dancers attend technique classes with the Woodside and Homestead dance teams. We work around everyone’s vacation, camps, and other commitments schedules to make it work for everyone! The summit dance team performs at school pep assemblies and basketball games. We also perform in Homestead Dance’s Spring Showcase. Our dancers attend 4-5 competitions, which are all one day and on a Saturday, and also a state finals competition on a Saturday.

Dancers must audition for the dance team in the spring and we announce auditions throughout the school. Everyone must attend 3 days of workshops which include learning a short jazz combination and hip hop combination. Dancers then sign up for a time slot on the fourth day for an audition time. A parent meeting is scheduled prior to auditions for parents to ask any additional questions.

The Summit dance team meets twice a week for practice for an hour and 15 minutes each day. When competition season begins, we also practice on Fridays before a competition. All competitions are held on Saturdays. If a dancer has a failing grade at any grade checkpoint, they will be ineligible to compete.
