Math Counts

DESCRIPTION:
‚Äč

The Math Club at Summit consists of students (and a teacher) who enjoy working on challenging math problems with friends.

In October, the club focuses on MATHCOUNTS curriculum; the problems in MATHCOUNTS are problem-solving, multi-conceptual and offer math experiences beyond those seen in a traditional math classroom. Prior students have stated the problems they see and learn about in MATHCOUNTS helped prepare them for higher math and college entrance exams.

In February, the club “morphs” into Math Academic Super Bowl and students switch to a new curriculum offering new challenges to their mathematical minds.

Beyond the weekly meetings, there is a Competition component as well. School competitions determine a team of 4 to compete at MATHCOUNTS competitions (held in February and March) and a new competition determines a team of 5 to compete at the Math Academic Super Bowl (held in April)
